OK…please don’t be alarmed when you see the sign “No Beginners”. At BLG, a coach or a more experienced member is there to spend more time helping you with your fundamental basics. Most successful gyms train in partners. We are no different. But imagine being in a room full of people where you are paired up and given instructions to do something they have never done before? It will be like a blind leading another. (Apology in advance if you find this example too sensitive).

“WE ARE HERE TO HELP YOU”
I’m aware that walking into a new gym where you don’t know anyone can be intimidating and daunting for some. I was one. It’s one of the reasons why some people feel comfortable looking at signs which say “Beginners only class”. We ask you to trust us to help you improve and learn your fundamental basics faster in a positive learning environment. (If you are one or one of your children, partner or friends with a confidence issue, please talk to us about it. We will find a way to help you. During the last 40-plus years in the industry, there aren’t many issues or technical flaws we haven’t come across). The quicker you feel comfortable with your fundamental basic techniques and skills, the more confident you will become. Many years ago, I used to feel the same. I felt that everyone was watching me making mistakes. Now I understand it was only my mind playing tricks on me. At BLG, we are here to help you and not judge you.
IRON SHARPS IRON
By training with more experienced members early on, we have proven that people learn much faster with this system. It also helps reduce bad habits and eliminate other little technical flaws during the early days. If flaws don’t get corrected early, they can become bad habits. This may be more challenging or take much longer to be corrected. But training with more experienced people helps sharpen you up quicker.
PAY IT FORWARD SYSTEM
When you become more experienced and confident, we expect you to do the same and help a newcomer, just like when someone helped you when you first started (Pay it forward system. Please do not forget that). It’s also an important life lesson to remind our members, especially younger ones, to appreciate the help of others who were there to help us when we needed help in the first place.

BLGFIGHTERS CLASS:
What does it take to be a BLG Fighter? Well, it’s a combination of things. First, of course, you must have talents. But you don’t have to be super talented. You only need to be strongly dedicated and committed to our system and training program. Even if you are a novice, our development system will help you reach a level you never thought possible. All you need to do is follow the instructions and advice of our coaches. Although you don’t win consistently with talents, you can’t win without them (John Wooden). But you must be disciplined, dedicated, willing to work as a team, learn to control your emotion (if you have challenges in this area, we will help you improve on them) and have the attitude to help others in the team.
Some of you may one day represent us on the world stage. Indeed we expect more from you. However, please understand that your fighting ability is only one part of the equation. We expect you to be a good leader and, generally, an ambassador for our gym and combat sports. So please feel free to ask lots of questions while working on your weaknesses until you are ready. We will help you step by step to ensure you achieve your goal of being a BLG Fighter.
